Sali Walker knows firsthand what it’s like to grow up in care. They moved 88 times, attended 26 schools, and faced countless challenges—but that didn’t stop them. Today, Sali holds five degrees and has dedicated their life to supporting children and young people.

A qualified teacher and former regional director for a children’s charity, Sali first joined a fostering agency by chance. But when they saw how profits were put before children, they knew something had to change. That’s why they founded Apex Fostering—to create an agency that puts children and carers first.

Sali personally meets every potential foster carer, making sure every child is placed in the right home.
“I want carers to know that the person leading this agency actually cares. Finding the right home for a child is life-changing, and I feel so lucky to do this every day.”

Sali has four grown children and has also fostered and hosted LGBTQI+ young people in need of a safe home—something very close to their heart.

Outside of work, Sali is a 3rd Dan black belt in Ju-Jitsu, a Level 2 weapons expert, and a white-water rafter. But they also love traveling, exploring different cultures, and discovering new vegetarian dishes!
